India marks 15 August as 69th Independence Day this year. On this day, the entire nation celebrates freedom from the British rule and the bond of togetherness and brotherhood.
Independence Day has great significance in our country because it reminds us of the unity and diversity of our nation. It is the day when India became free from the British Rule after 200 years of slavery.
India is the only nation that has more than two billion people of different religion, language and culture, living together and celebrating every occasion with great zeal.
The Indian Independence Day is celebrated in a big manner in schools and colleges and a grand cultural even is organised. Many pay homage to the freedom fighters and legends who fought for the country.
One can see tri-color flags, balloons, kites and outfits on this day. Offices, schools hoist flag and sing the National Anthem.
Most importantly, the Prime Minister (this year Narendra Modi) hoists the National flag at the Red Fort, Delhi, followed by a speech.
